Frequently
Asked Questions
When
will summer classes be held?
The “Strengthening
the Teaching of American History” summer program will run from Thursday,
July 8, through Wednesday, July 21. During this two-week period, you
will have class every day, Monday through Friday. Exact class times
for the summer courses have not yet been finalized, but you should
anticipate summer classes to start around 9:00 AM and end between
5:00 and 6:00 PM. Class times may vary somewhat from day to day, depending
on scheduled field trips and other activities.
How
do I get to American University either by car or public transportation?
Directions
to the AU campus can be found at:
http://www.american.edu/maps_html/
Where
can I find a map of the American University campus?
A map
of the AU campus is available at: http://www.american.edu/maps_html/maincampus.html
Where
can I park during the Summer Institute?
Parking
at American University is $12 per day. However, you may park at no
cost at either Horace Mann Elementary School (4430 Newark Street,
NW) or Woodrow Wilson Senior High School (3950 Chesapeake Street,
NW). Horace Mann Elementary School is located closest to the AU campus,
but has only 28 parking spaces available. Therefore, you will also
be able to park at Wilson High School and take the (free) AU shuttle
to campus, which leaves every 10-15 minutes from the Tenleytown Metro
Station. To ride the AU shuttle, you just need to tell the driver
that you are participating in an AU summer program.
