"My name is Peyton Ford. Recently I visited a family in Bovec, Slovenia. Oh yeah by the way, I actually knew them beforehand. It was a great time, nice people and things to see and do. As a matter of fact I did some really fun kayaking and hiking as well. I liked it so much I thought it would be fun to share it with others who are interested in Slovenia and would like to learn more about it. This is my Slovenian Web site."

Just a little overview...
Slovenia is
a small, peaceful country that became a democratic sovereign state on June
25, 1991. Formerly is was an independent republic of Yugoslavia along with
Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Macedonia. Prior to
that it was part of of the Austrian-Hapsburg Empire and even earlier, the
Roman Empire. Today it is the most prosperous state in Eastern or Central
Europe. Although very small(about the size of New Jersey and only 2,000,000
citizens), it has many unique qualities. From the high alps of Triglav
National Park and Kamnisko to the maritime Adriatic coast...and the cosmopolitan
capital of Ljubljana to the vineyards of Murska Sabota. The basic unit
of currency is the Tolar.
Slovenia is also a great time waiting for travelers. It has great air service
around Europe via Adria, the
national carrier. For more information on the country contact the Slovene
Embassy
in Washington, DC. Once your in the country trains
and buses can get you around it. If you would like to see and know more
