The language itself dates far back in time, it roots lie in the 9th century. The Freising Manuscripts document the rising use of Slovene in early christian religious services. They are the first record of Slovene and were discovered in the Munich National Library in 1806 during research.
In 1551 Protestant Primoz Trubar published Katekizem or the Catechism, the first written book in the Slovene language.
