The Big Day

The day is finally here.  The dresses have all arrived and the parties that you've planned are all over.  But your duty as a maid of honor isn't over.  This is a very stressful  day for the bride and it is your job to support her and keep her calm throughout the whole day.  The first thing you do is help her get dressed.  Help her with hair and make up and make sure that she feels beautiful.

When the ceremony begins, you will walk down the aisle immediately before the bride does.  You will stand beside her at the altar, hold her bouquet, and fix her veil and dress if need be.  When it comes time to exchange rings, you will present the bride with the groom's ring.  It is your support and positive energy that will be most important to the bride as you stand with her at the altar.

After the ceremony is over, the celebration can begin.  Help her with any touch-ups that may be needed before the reception, and try to help her out with whatever she may need throughout the reception.  She may ask you to prepare a toast similar to one that the best man prepares, but that is up to the bride to decide  If not, the rest of the reception is a time when you can relax and enjoy yourself, and celebrate such a wonderful union..  All that's left after the reception is for the bride to toss her bouquet.  Hopefully (unless you are already married), you'll catch it!
