Being the Chosen
A bride will  pick someone whom they love dearly,  someone who they feel they can trust, and  someone who has been a part of her life and will continue to be.  The most important thing you can do as a potentail maid of honor is love, truly and sincerely, your relative, friend, or sister. You must be a constant friend and confidant, and always make your loved one feel like the special person that they are.   Whether you have known this person 12 years, or 12 months,
it matters not how long you've known your bride, but how you treat her during the time that you have spent with her thus far.  Call her, write her, send her cards, remember her birthday, and tell her often what a vital person she is to your life.  These are all elements of being a good and loyal friend.  If you do this, she will be as honored as you are to be her Maid of Honor.
Once she asks you to be her Maid of Honor, this first thing you do is accept!  Then you tell her  how honored and excited you are to be a part of her wedding.  Assure her that you will be there to support her througout her entire experience. From now on, it is your job to help make sure that you have a confident and happy bride.  Now the planning can begin!
