This section of the CD is designed using a WEB BROWSER interface. While you are using this section, you can click on any of the blue highlighted and underlined words to find out more. This will give you information on definitions or links to other sites that have more detail. Sometimes, you will need to be connected to the internet to use the links, so you must have an Internet Service Provider or ISP. If you are a full time or part time student at American University, you can connect from home through IBM GLOBAL LINK and the software to get you started is included on this CD. You may choose to use another ISP, such as EROLS, America On-Line (AOL), Compuserve, Prodigy, and others. However, it is very important to know that connecting to an ISP from home requires that you pay a monthly fee (an average of about $12 a month). In addition, you will be using a phone line from home, and some households perfer to have another phone line installed. Connecting to an ISP from home is not required, as you can connect to the internet via a direct connection to the internet from the university, but many people rather work from home.
To use this CD ROM, you can simply insert the CD into your CD ROM drive, and run the applications from the CD. This means you will not copy any information from the CD onto your computer, and you will read the information from right from the CD. You may find that this is a little "slow" and you might choose to copy the files directly onto your hard drive. To do this, follow the instuctions below for your operating system:
Windows 95
Windows 3.1
