Dr. Nina M. RoscherProfessor Roscher's research interests are in physical organic chemistry and the history and role of women in chemistry. She has been the recipient of grants totaling over $3.3 million in support of her research, graduate students and science education. In September 1998 at a White House Ceremony she received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. She recently completed the book Women Chemists 1995 for the American Chemical Society. She is the 1996 winner of the American Chemical Society Award for Encouraging Women in the Chemical Sciences sponsored by the Dreyfus Foundation. Purdue University named her a Distinguished Alumna in 1996. She has served the university as vice provost for academic affairs, dean for faculty affairs, associate dean for graduate studies and chair of the University Senate. She has been a senior program officer at the National Science Foundation. She was named a Fellow of the Association for Women in Science in 1997, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 1987, and a national honorary member of Sigma Delta Epsilon, Graduate Women in Science in 1982. In 1998 she received a Senior Scholar Special Commendation of Honor from the American Association of University Women.
