Research Interests

Recent publications and research examine market development and social outcomes in the transition economies of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Field research has been supported by grants from the MacArthur Foundation, National Council for Soviet and East European Research, National Research Council, and the National Science Foundation for work in Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland.

Teaching Interests

Recent courses taught include Comparative Systems, Heterodox Microeconomics, Transition Economies, the Economics of Gender, and the Doctoral Dissertation Seminar.
