Tomorrow's leaders in health promotion are being educated at American University today.

 

Position: Internship

Supervised Internship in Adolescent Health Behavior/Education. The Cancer Control Program of the Lombardi Cancer Center (Washington, DC) has an immediate opening for a paid 6-, 9-, or 12-month intern in adolescent health behavior/education. The internship consists of a combination of research, clinical, and didactic activities supervised by full-time program faculty.

The successful applicant will work closely with an interdisciplinary research team, including representation from health behavior/education, child health psychology, pediatric medicine, and nursing, to: (1) develop and pilot test the efficacy of a psycho-educational group intervention to promote healthy behaviors, and to deter unhealthy behaviors, among adolescents previously treated for cancer and; (2) determine the intervention's effectiveness.

This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position carrying a modest stipend. Limited professional development funds are also available. A bachelor's degree and graduate training/experience in lifestyle/behavioral health promotion interventions are necessary, as is experience working with adolescents.
