Position: Internship Montgomery Country Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) is implementing a total wellness/fitness program for their fire and rescue personnel. The fitness component of the wellness/fitness program will be comprised of three major areas, Exercise and Nutritional Programs, Education, and Research. This is a large and diverse program serving approximately 1,000 firefighters with approximately 10% of them females. MCFRS is seeking professional, enthusiastic, self-directed, knowledgeable students in the disciplines of exercise physiology, corporate wellness, health promotion, kinesiology nutrition and other health related fields to fulfill full-time and part time internship position. Students will have an opportunity to work in one of the most unique worksite settings. Interns will be directed in a variety of experiences to enhance their professional development and gain hands-on experience. An internship with MCFRS will provide individuals with exposure and/or experience in the following areas: comprehensive fitness assessments; exercise prescription; group exercise class instruction; health & fitness motivational programming; personal training; wellness programming; firefighter recruit physical fitness training, group exercise instruction, strength training instruction, health promotion programs, nutrition and weight control program. Qualifications: Senior level student working towards a Baccalaureate or Masters degree in physical education, exercise physiology, kinesiology, recreation, health education or related field from an accredited college or university; certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first-aid mandatory; communication skill to instruct and interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
