Professor Daouk’s teaching interests include developing methods for American
students to learn Arabic as a familiar, internal language to express themselves.
His research involves a comparative study of melodrama and humor in American
and Lebanese cultures.

Professor Hazimeh Glueck received two masters degrees: an MS in Linguistics
from The University of Southern Mississippi and an MA in TESOL from William
Carey College, both in Hattiesburg, MS. She has been teaching Arabic and English
since 1985. In addition to her teaching career, she has extensive experience
at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA, where she trained OPI testers
and non testers, and DLI faculty. She has published training manuals
for DLI and a course on customer service for the Royal Jordanian Airlines entitled The
Customer Is Our Business. From Professor Hazimeh Glueck: “Teaching
has been my calling and I love it and would not trade this joy for anything
