said in class students would not be responsible for the last two
theorems in section 29. Those will not be covered on the
final. I have revised the information I
posted about the final exam to reflect this fact. |

| 9/11/2011 | Extra problem 2 for section 4
was posted incorrectly -- I left out one assumption. The correct
statement includes the assumption that a is not an element of A. The webpage has been
updated to correct this omission. Thanks to Ben Magyar for
catching the error and pointing out that if A = {a} the problem as stated is false. |

about the problems from section 3. Please review the comments
before completing your homework for section 4. |
| 9/5/2011 | I have corrected an error on,
and updated, the assignment webpage.
The error was that I used *'s instead of +'s to mark plus problems. Please note
that problem 1.9 and Extra Problem 1.2 are + problems and will receive
extra attention when I grade the papers. Many students
turned in incomplete papers for the first assignment, and some turned
in nothing at all. At our next class, Wednesday, please plan to
turn in any problems from the first assignment that were not ready last
week, as well as the problems from section 3. |
