Last Updated March 3, 1999
Dr. Henry Edwards
University of Georgia
Dr. Edwards is well known as the co-author (with David Penney) of a popular
calculus text . He has recently been developing an elementary treatment of modeling suitable for precalculus students. This project features a significant development of material delivered to students on the world wide web, which will be discussed in Dr. Edwards presentation, Students and Computers, the World Wide Web, and Mathematical Modeling for Everyone.. . .
Dr. James White
Editor, Mathwright Library
Dr. White is the creator of Mathwright, a powerful authoring tool with which mathematics teachers can create interactive computer environments for their students. He was co-director of the MAA's highly successful Interactive Mathematics Text Project, and has created an
internet library of MATHWRIGHT activities freely available to teachers and students everywhere. These activities allow students to interact with mathematical ideas and objects in a web-page like setting with graphics, push buttons, animation, etc. Dr. White is currently working on extending the library to provide a broad variety of activities that students and teachers will find attractive. His presentation, Teaching your Students to Play with Mathematics will highlight the Mathwright library and discuss the philosophy and goals of the project.
