2006 Summer Research Grants
in Mathematics and Statistics

Amount of Award

$2000 + $500 travel. Travel funds may be used to present results at a conference, no later than August 31, 2007

Work Period

8 weeks during summer 2006

Eligibility

Undergraduates and Masters Students in Mathematics and Statistics

Qualifications

Generally, applicants should have completed two years of college mathematics and statistics. Additional specific qualifications depend on the project.

Projects

Interested students should discuss the possibility of doing a project with any math/stat faculty member.  Click here for a list of faculty who have indicated they will be available to guide summer research projects.  Click here for descriptions of past research projects.

Requirements

Award recipients will present their work at the 2007 Ann Robyn Mathias Student Research Conference. An exception will be made for students who wish to present their work at a mathematics or statistics conference which conflicts with the date of the Mathias Student Research Conference.

Source of Support

Two awards will be provided by departmental restricted funds, contributed by donors to support activities in mathematics and statistics.  One additional award will be supported by the College of Arts and Sciences.
