Babita Das

Babita Das is a predoctoral student in the Behavior, Cognition, and Neuroscience (BCaN) program in the Department of Psychology at American University. Prior to coming to AU, Babita earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and an M.S. in Psychology from Shippensburg University. She has conducted research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the Bronx Veterans Medical Research Foundation, and Friends Research Institute. Babita's research interests include developing and comparing pharmacological and behavioral treatments for substance abuse, improving treatment outcomes and treatment retention, and preventing relapse. She is currently conducting her thesis study on the effects of cigarettes and nicotine withdrawal on attentional bias and cognitive performance. Babita is the current campus representative for the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS) at American University and also works as a counselor at AU's Academic Support Center.
