Kogod MBAs Place Third in National Case Competition
Kogod’s MBA team won third place and a $500 cash prize in the GW/KPMG National MBA Case Competition this past weekend.  The case topic was evaluating and making recommendations for future development of a Web site for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  Twenty formidable MBA programs across the country and two international teams competed in the event.  The president and other executives from the IOC judged the final round of the competition.  Kogod’s team participants were Payal Dalal, Wayne Lopez, Murdock Martin, Greg Schahet, and Mia Wicaksono.  Augie Schomburg, Director of Graduate Programs, was their advisor.  The keynote speaker at the awards banquet was Jimmy Lynn of AOL, a Kogod MBA alumnus, who team-teaches technology courses in our MBA program.  Please congratulate our MBA team and let them know we are proud of their accomplishment!

Dean Leadership Award Established at Kogod
Dean Myron Roomkin announced the establishment of a new category of graduate awards, Dean’s Leadership Fellows.  Recipients of this award are viewed as having exceptional leadership potential as well as academic credentials.  While there is no specific school work requirement as there is for other merit-based awards, the Dean’s Leadership Fellows agenda is developed by its own membership each year.  This elite group takes on Kogod graduate leadership roles under the guidance of the Dean and a faculty advisor.  They also participate in a series of fireside discussions with the Dean, faculty advisor, and special guests from the corporate community.  The Deans’ Leadership Fellows distinction is being presented to a small number of students who began in the current academic year and to a few Fall 2000 applicants.

Congratulations
LDG, Inc. (Lee Development Group), winner of Kogod’s 1999 Family Business of the Year in the small business category has also won the MassMutual 1999 National Family Business of the Year Award for their category.  Congratulations to Brooke, Bruce and Blair Lee on their tremendous success, which brings pride and honor to their family and to our awards program.
