
Roger
Volkema is an Associate Professor and Chair of the
Management Department at the Kogod
School of Business, American
University, Washington, D.C., and a private consultant
to business and industry. He regularly conducts courses, seminars,
and workshops in both North and South America on negotiation,
conflict management, teambuilding, the consultancy process,
and organizational behavior. He has authored over fifty journal
articles and conference papers on these and other topics, developed
a software package for managing teams, groups, and meetings
(1990), and published two books on bargaining and negotiation
for the American Management Association (The
Negotiation Toolkit, AMACOM, 1999, and Leverage,
AMACOM, 2006). He has an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison, worked for ten years in the health care
field, and was a Fulbright Fellow at the Departamento de Administracao,
Pontificia Universidade Catolica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in
1988.
