Definitions

Attendance Status Indicates whether a student is attending full-time or part-time; is based on the number of credit hours a student takes.
AU Abroad Program for American University students studying abroad, (formerly the World Capitals Program.)
Entry Status Indicates whether the student, upon entering the university, is a freshman, transfer or graduate student.
Full-time Undergraduate and law students taking 12 or more credit hours, and graduate and nondegree students taking 9 or more credit hours.
Full-time Equivalent Calculation for part-time students, which is derived by dividing the average load of all full-time students into the total student credit hours of part-time students at the same degree level.
Law
Includes all students in the Washington College of Law, including JD, LLM, SJD, nondegree and certificate.
Maintaining Matriculation The enrollment status of graduate students not registered for course, or thesis / dissertation credits.
Non-AU Study Abroad Program for students studying abroad who are not matriculating at American University.
Nondegree Students enrolled in regular university courses who have not been admitted to a degree program.
Part-time Undergraduate and law students taking fewer than 12 credit hours, and graduate and nondegree students taking fewer than 9 credit hours.
Student Credit Hours The sum of the credit hours per student course registration.
Washington Semester A one-semester intercollegiate program for non-AU students.
