SPRING 2006 SELECTED RESULTS

Undergraduate Results

Employment Plans

50% of undergraduates report that they are employed or have secured a position. Of those, 54% are working for private for profit institutions, 24% for non-profits, and 21% are working in government.

Graduate School Plans

61% said that they plan to attend graduate school. 29% of those plan to attend during the year following graduation, with the majority planning to pursue a master's degree (73%), and 21% planning to go to law school .

Developing Student Abilities

Graduates indicated that their skills were most significantly enhanced in the following areas:

Research, critical thinking, writing, oral communication, and multicultural awareness.

Overall Satisfaction

Most graduates reported being satisfied with their academic program (96%) and their experience at American University (92%).

Similar percentages said that they are proud of being an AU graduate (93%) and would recommend AU to prospective students (90%).


Master's Student Results

Employment Information


72% of master’s graduates indicated that they are employed or have secured a position. Of those, 35% are working for private for profit institutions, 29% for non-profits, and 27% are working in government.
For those employed full-time, 42% report their salary to be $50,000 or more.*

Developing Student Abilities

Graduates indicated that their skills were most significantly enhanced in the following areas:

Substantive knowledge in the field, thinking analytically, and conducting original research.

Overall Satisfaction

Masters' graduates were generally satisfied with their academic program (94%) and their experience at American University (91%). They also reported being proud of being an AU graduate (95%) and that they would recommend AU to prospective students (91%).
