Israel and Palestine
Have a unique and life changing experience in Israel and Palestine. In this summer program, you will apply your skills and passions in hands-on activities that will acquaint you with the intricacies of life in Israel and Palestine.

Academic Details
The intensive nine-week program explores the roots of violence, conflict resolution and peace building, and sustainable development within the context of Israeli-Palestinian relations. The program consists of two mandatory academic components worth 3 credits each: a core seminar that includes lectures and discussions with key stakeholders in the region and an internship in Israel or the West Bank.
Site Visits
Students enjoy site visits to historical and cultural sites in Jerusalem and a weekend excursion to Petra, the Dead Sea, and Amman in Jordan.

July 26 – July 29: Site Visits in Jordan

Who Should Attend:
Graduate and advanced undergraduate students in all majors and disciplines from American University only may apply. All students must demonstrate academic achievement, an interest in the Middle East peace process, and the ability to adapt in a culturally and politically sensitive environment.
Logistics:
Students travel as a group from and to Washington, D.C. Students will be housed in shared tourist class accommodations for the duration of the seminar and in hotels, apartments or homestays during the internship, depending on their placement and location.

Application instructions and materials are available on page 11 of the program guide. Students must read the entire program guide before applying. All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and must be received by March 16, 2009 for priority consideration.
