Welcome
to the website for the January conference on
e-rulemaking to be held on January 8 in the
Ward Circle Building of American University.
The information on this site is for conference
participants who wish to familiarize themselves
with the purpose and content of the conference,
other attendees and logistics.
E-rulemaking
(or electronic rulemaking) is a term that encompasses
a number of technologies and techniques to enhance
the ability of the public to participate in
the development of rules and regulations by
government and to assist government agencies
in dealing with the content of what the public
communicates. E-rulemaking has been embraced
by the federal government. Regulation.gov is
an initiative of the Bush Administration to
enable the public to search for proposed regulations
that are currently open for comment and has
a number of other important features that are
either in place or planned for the near future.
This conference provides an opportunity for
professionals in government, the private and
third sectors and academics to come together
to explore features of e-rulemaking, the regulation.gov
program and how this initiative might be evaluated.
There will be a number of presentations from
a wide variety of experts, ample opportunity
for open dialogue and discussion and a series
for small group sessions where conference participants
can offer recommendations for the future development
and use of e-rulemaking systems.
The Conference is sponsored by American University,
Regulations.gov,
and the Environmental
Protection Agency. You can learn more about
various features of the conference by clicking
