Event Detail: EUISS/SAIS
Transatlantic Conference: 'EU-US Partnership Delivering Results'

Date: November 20, 2006
Time: All Day
Location: Johns Hopkins University/SAIS 1740 Massachusetts Ave., NW Kenney Auditorium
Sponsor: School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the European Union Institute for
Security Studies (EUISS)

Description:

The Center for Transatlantic Relations of the Paul H. Nitze School of
Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the European Union Institute for
Security Studies (EUISS) would like to invite you to the annual EUISS/SAIS
Transatlantic Conference: 'EU-US Partnership Delivering Results', which will
take place this year on November 20, 2006 in Washington D.C. (A draft agenda
is attached)

The conference is supported by the Finnish EU Presidency and is also
included in the calendar of the Political and Security Committee of the EU.
The EU national Ambassadors to the PSC will participate in the conference.
The core theme of the conference is the condition and effectiveness of
co-operation between the US and the EU in the field of security and foreign
affairs. Since the creation of ESDP and the further development of CFSP the
role of the EU as a security actor has grown dynamically, so has the scope
of US-EU cooperation. The EU and the US now work closely in the Middle East,
the former Soviet Republics, in the Balkans and in fighting terrorism.

Bringing together top foreign policy officials from the EU and the US as
well as experts and academics from the both sides of the Atlantic, the
conference this year will focus on both the state of transatlantic relations
and topical global security issues.

Given the importance of this event we hope you will be able to accept our
invitation. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any further
questions regarding the conference please do not hesitate to contact Chantal
de Jonge Oudraat (202-663 5880 or coudraat@jhu.edu).

Please RSVP to transatlanticrsvp@jhu.edu or call 202-663-5730.
