ACES POLICY OUTREACH

ACES engages European and American policymakers and opinion leaders, promotes policy analysis and research, and enhances media understanding and coverage of policy issues confronting the European Union and the United States.

Strategy Groups -- periodic Strategy Groups composed of practitioners and scholars examine particular policy issues and produce short policy-oriented reports – “ACES Papers” -- available through the ACES network and website. Current Study Group projects include:

• Europe After September 11
• European Security and Defense Policy: Implications for Transatlantic Partnership
• Climate Change: A Challenge for Transatlantic Relations
• The Enlargement of the EU and NATO

Presidential Priorities – This series provides an opportunity for each EU Presidency country and its Troika partners to engage ACES/NEUC scholars and key Washington opinion leaders on EU policy priorities. In 2002, the Spanish Ambassador provided his perspectives on the EU Presidency.

Special Events - Occasional events designed to bring together key policymakers and interested parties to discuss US-EU relations. In 2002, ACES sponsored a conference on the Transatlantic Business Dialogue.

Short-Term Visitors and Diplomats- or Practitioners-In-Residence: ACES universities can provide space and an institutional affiliation for European scholars or visiting Diplomats- or Practitioners-In-Residence from various backgrounds for stays lasting from one week to a semester.
