Washington Community of Scholars Program
Designed for rising junior and senior high school students, the Washington Community of Scholars Program at American University is an opportunity for academically-outstanding high school students to take a 3-credit course which enhances their preparation for college. This program introduces students to the advancing fields of international relations, conflict resolution, environmental politics, government, justice studies or journalism. During this three week program, students learn from highly regarded members of the AU faculty in small, interactive classes while obtaining college credit. Students will experience how national and international leaders put theory into practice through guest speakers, site visits, and an introduction to the institutions of Washington that turn ideas into action. Taking a college course helps prepare students for the expectations of higher education and will add value to their college application and resume. Discover the World of Communication
The School of Communication (SOC) offers an exciting opportunity to explore the world of communication through hands-on noncredit courses open to all high school students. Courses are taught by SOC faculty as well as working professionals including journalists, filmmakers, and web writers and designers on American University’s campus and use the resources of the university and locations in Washington, D.C. Courses are two or four weeks in length and meet Monday through Friday during the morning and/or afternoon. Activities, guest speakers, events, and field trips are planned regularly throughout the summer. Students can take several classes to have a rich palette of experiences during the summer. National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) College Credit Program
Through American University’s partnership with the NSLC, participants can earn 1 or 2 college credits in a variety of subjects including international diplomacy, international law and human rights, business and globalization, engineering systems and the global environment, intelligence and national security, global leadership studies, global public health, U.S. policy and politics, civil rights and the war on terror, and forensic science. Summer Sports Camps and Curl-Burke Swim School

American Collegiate Adventures
American Collegiate Adventures (ACA) offers the country’s most comprehensive pre-college programs.
