American Soundly Defeats Colgate, 6-0
Eagles outshoot Raiders 17-2 in the contest

Game Stats -- October 6, 2001

Hamilton, N.Y. -- The American field hockey team completely dominated Colgate this morning, 6-0, to notch their third Patriot League win of the season. Junior Magdalena Aguilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina/St. Catherine's Moorlands) had a hat trick in the contest while sophomore Melissa Snyder (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) had two goals and sophomore Karlijn Schellens (Valkenswaard, Netherlands/Conestoga Pa.) finished with one score.

Schellens started the scoring for American at 20:14 into the contest off a direct corner, assisted by Aguilar and senior Rita Delgadillo (Chula Visata, Calif./Hilltop). Snyder netted the Eagles' second goal of the half at 33:54. She scored again at 50:13, then Aguilar made three consecutive scores in the latter part of the second half to notch her first hat trick of the season.

Sophomore keeper Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown) notched her first shutout of the season and didn't have to come out of the net once as the Eagles outshot the Raiders 17-2 over the day. American also finished with 12 penalty corners to three for Colgate.

American moves to 4-4 overall, 3-1 while playing in the Patriot League. They hit the road this week for a game at Towson on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 3:00 p.m.
