Miller Tabbed as ECAC Goalkeeper of the Week
AU keeper stands out in fast 3-1 start

WASHINGTON — After making the key saves in a double overtime, sudden death penalty stroke 2-1 victory over Virginia Commonwealth University in the season opener followed by a 3-0, nine save shutout of Appalachian St., American University goalkeeper Laura Miller (Pennsburg, Pa./Quakertown), has been named the ECAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week.

It marks the second major award the junior has earned this week as she was named the Patriot League Player of the Week. The shutout is the fourth in Miller’s career.

The Eagles return to action Friday when they face Boston University Friday and Massachusetts on Sunday at the Maryland Tournament.

American University, which fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men, recently completed its inaugural year of membership in the Patriot League. The University had an extremely successful year to date on respective fields of play, capturing league championships in men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse.
