WASHINGTON
American University senior Adam Rosen (Milburn, N.J. /Milburn)
was named to the 2001-02 Verizon Academic All-District Mens Soccer
First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA).
Rosen was named the Patriot League Mens Soccer Scholar-Athlete of
the Year in December and also earned first-team All-League honors. Rosen
holds a 3.20 cumulative grade point average with a major in justice, law
and society. He is the first Eagle male student-athlete to win Scholar-Athlete
of the Year recognition.
The Eagles finished the 2001 season with a 13-8-2 record and a national
ranking of 14th in the final NSCA/adidas poll. After winning the Patriot
League Championship, American defeated Ohio State and Wake Forest on its
way to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA College Cup. Rosen scored two goals in
the Eagles victory against Wake Forest.
Rosen led the Patriot League in goals (10) and points (25) giving him
30 goals and 72 points for his career. He now stands in a tie for third
in career goals scored and fifth in career points. Rosen also scored three
game-winning goals during the season.
American University, which is in its inaugural year as a member of the
Patriot League, officially joined the conference on July 1. The University,
founded in 1893, fields a 19-sport Division I athletics program, featuring
10 womens sports and nine for men.
