Named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week
October 7, 2002 WASHINGTON — American University sophomore forward Andrew Herman (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) was named co-Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 7 after scoring two goals and adding an assist for the No. 13 men’s soccer team against Bucknell. Herman, the 2001 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, currently leads the team with seven goals and 21 points. He has scored game-winning goals in four matches including the Bucknell game and the Eagles’ upset of then-No. 9 Boston College. Herman is second on the squad with seven assists. In only his second season for American, Herman is on the verge of joining the all-time top-10 lists at American in goals, assists and points. American currently is off to its second-best start ever at 10-2 on the season and 3-0 in the Patriot League. The Eagles have moved up to No. 16 in the College Soccer News poll and are second in the South Atlantic region in the NSCAA/adidas poll. The national NSCAA/adidas poll will be released later today as will the other national polls. AU travels to Princeton
Wednesday in a non-league match with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Saturday, the
Eagles play Holy Cross on Reeves Field in a Patriot League showdown. Kickoff
is at 1 p.m.
