BOUND! AU Men’s Soccer Earns At-Large Bid November 18, 2002
Complete NCAA Men's College Cup Bracket WASHINGTON — After a nerve-wracking weekend, the American University’s men’s soccer team earned its second at-large berth ever to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles (12-7-1) will face Atlantic 10 Champion George Washington (13-8-0) in the first round to be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Reeves Field. AU makes its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and seventh all-time. Last season, the Eagles advanced to the Sweet 16 before falling to eventual national champion North Carolina in overtime. Reeves Field will play host to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time ever. AU is 4-0 all-time at home in the NCAA Tournament. American and George Washington last met in 2001 in the D.C. College Cup. The Eagles defeated the Colonials, 1-0, on a goal by Shawn Kuykendall (Fairfax, Va./Madison) in the 76th minute. AU holds a 17-8-2 advantage all-time against G.W. The winner of Saturday’s match will travel to Maryland for the second round on Nov. 27th. American University, which
