Peter Philipakos scored two goals for AU while Andrew Herman netted a goal and added two assists. The Eagles dominated the first half, controlling much of the play. However, AU's first shot on goal did not come until 18 minutes in taken by Philipakos that was saved by the Royals' keeper. With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, AU had a number of chances, but could not convert. Philipakos put the ball in the right corner of the goal for a 1-0 Eagle lead. AU was very active in the Royals end in the final two minutes of the half, but could not get another goal.
