Men’s Soccer Moves to No. 21 in NSCAA/adidas Rankings
Eagles head to UConn/adidas Classic Friday

Senior Kris Kuykendall and the rest of the Eagles moved into the NSCAA/adidas rankings at No. 21 and will face Top-25 competition at the UConn/adidas Classic this weekend.

WASHINGTON — After claiming its second consecutive D.C. College Cup, the American University men’s soccer team moved into the NSCAA/adidas national rankings for the first time this year. The Eagles are currently ranked No. 21 in the nation after being unranked in the preseason poll.

At the D.C. College Cup held at American University, the Eagles defeated Howard, 5-0, on Friday and Georgetown, 4-0, on Sunday to claim the trophy. Senior defender Larry McDonald was named Tournament MVP and senior defender David Pryor, sophomore midfielder Shawn Kuykendall and sophomore forward Andrew Herman were also named to the All-Tournament team.

AU will be tested this weekend as it heads to the UConn/adidas Classic held in Storrs, Conn. On Friday, the Eagles face No. 16 Connecticut at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, American will play No. 9 Boston College at 11:30 a.m.

American University is beginning its second year of membership in the Patriot League. In its inaugural year it captured league championships in men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s tennis and women’s tennis, and regular-season titles in men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse. The University fields a 19-sport NCAA Division I athletics program, featuring 10 women’s sports and nine for men.

American became a full member of the Patriot League on July 1, 2001. Chartered by an Act of Congress in 1893, the University features students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and more than 160 nations worldwide.
