Men's Tennis Coach, Martin Blackman, named CAA Co-coach of the Year

Eagles’ Hamori named to conference second team for singles.

Washington, DC- American University men’s tennis coach Martin Blackman was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Co-Coach of the Year Fri., Apr. 20 while AU junior Bence Hamori was selected to the All-CAA Second-Team for singles.

Blackman, who shared Coach of the Year honors with Peter Daub of William & Mary, has guided the Eagles to a 7-7 overall record on the season and a 3-2 mark in the CAA. The Eagles’ season has been highlighted by five straight home wins, each by a 7-0 sweep. The five straight sweeps is a new school record.

Hamori owns a 19-6 overall record on the season at #1 singles and is a perfect 5-0 against CAA opponents on the spring.

The Eagles did not participate in the CAA Championships held this weekend in Richmond, Va. due to AU’s move to the Patriot League but will host CAA champion Virginia Commonwealth on Sat., Apr. 28 in their final match of the season.
