Bailey
and Jaysingh Lose in Doubles Semifinals American finishes at Virginia Invitational
Sept. 22, 2002 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The American University men’s tennis team completed its final day at the Virginia Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center Sunday with Kyle Bailey and Juan Jaysingh losing North Carolina State's Rehman Esmail and Will Shaw in a Doubles Flight B Semifinall match, 8-4. Bailey beat Iowa’s Pete Rose 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 and lost to Wake Forest’s Trent Brendon, 6-3, 6-2 in the second round in Singles Flight B. The senior later teamed up with Jaysingh for a win in Doubles Flight B competition. Andreas Kulcsar defeated Virginia Tech’s David Emery 6-4, 6-4 but lost to North Carolina State’s Nick Meythaler in the second round of Singles Flight B, 6-4, 6-3. Jaysingh lost to Virginia’s Stephen Rozek, 6-0, 6-1 and Liberty’s Luiz Rino, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 in the Singles Flight B Consolation Round. Tushar Garg lost to Rice’s Alex Navinkov by scores of 6-1, 7-6 (2) in Singles Flight A but beat Nebraska’s Joe Reckeway, 6-2, 6-3 in a consolation match. In Doubles Flight A, Garg and Kulcsar fell in doubles to Wake Forest Deacons Brendon and David Loewenthal , 9-8. Garg and Kulcsar will face Stuart Waters and Justin Gaard of Iowa in the Doubles Flight A Consolation Round.
