Men's Tennis Defeats GW in Season Opener
Eagles open their Spring season with 4-2 victory

Senior co-captain Kyle Bailey notched victories in both singles and doubles play to help AU to a 4-2 season-opening win over George Washington.

WASHINGTON -- The American men's tennis team took four of six singles matches en route to a 4-2 victory over local rival George Washington in the team's season opener on Friday.

Bence Hamori, AU's #1 seed, cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Matt Hane while teammate Josh Procacci defeated Jacob Jopling, 6-4, 6-2, in #2 singles. Tushar Garg won at the #3 singles spot over Kevin Wright (62, 7-6[3]) and Kyle Bailey took the #5 flight win over Kinzie Wright (6-2, 7-5).

The Eagles' #3 doubles team of Procacci and Bailey defeated GW's Mike Melen and Chris Moulton 8-2 to secure American's season-opening victory.

American heads to College Park, Md., on Saturday for a matchup against the University of Maryland.
