Garg Leads American Charge at ECCs
Junior advances in both singles and doubles competition

Tushar Garg won in both singles and doubles competition for AU.

NORFOLK, Va.. -- American University's Tushar Garg and the tandem of Guilluame Tarralle and Juan Jaysingh advanced to the quarterfinals of the East Coast Championships hosted by Old Dominion University Saturday.

Garg defeated Virginia's Mike Downing in the Round of 32 in Flight C Singles, 6-1, 6-1 and went on to beat Maryland's Scott Baxter, 6-2, 6-0. He will face Jeppy Moss of Richmond in the quarterfinals. In Flight A Doubles competition, Garg and senior Kyle Bailey will face Howard's Kenneth Brown and Dwayne Pagon in the Round of 16.

Tarralle and Jaysingh had a bye in the Round of 16 and are slated to face Delaware's Patrick Seitz and Ari Zweig in the quarters of Flight C Doubles.

Tarralle also competed in the Flight C Singles bracket, beating George Mason's Cem Akalin, 6-0, 6-1 before losing in the Round of 16 to UVA's Travis Triplett, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. In Flight B Singles, Jaysingh lost to Campbell's Zorick Toltsan, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Rubin Rivero and Bailey both lost in the Round of 32 in the Flight A Singles bracket. Rivero fell to Maryland's Chris Chiu, 7-6(2), 6-2 while Bailey loss to Richmond's David Donn, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3.
