Men's Tennis Defeats Davidson, 6-1 Eagles improve to 3-0 on season
February 26, 2003 DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The American University men's tennis team captured its third straight win of the 2003 season with a 6-1 decision over Davidson College Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles won five of the six singles matches and two of three doubles matches as the Wildcats fell to 4-3 on the season. Tushar Garg and Andreas Kulcsar beat Rob Haywood and Donald Miles, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles and Rubin Rivero and Guilluame Tarralle secured an 8-6 decision over Rob Gould and Jonathan Britt at No. 2 doubles. In singles action, Garg won over Miles, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-2 at No. 2 while Bailey earned a point at No. 3 singles over Bryan Stonestreet, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (6). Juancarlo Vazquez came back from a 4-6 deficit in the first set the win 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Juan Jaysingh earned his first singles win of 2003 with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 over Geoffrey Mullen at No. 5. Kulcsar registered the final point at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Russ Burns. American will play at UNC-Wilmington on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Singles No. 1:
