Men's Tennis Edges Army, 4-3
April 12, 2003 WEST POINT, N.Y. -- In the final Patriot League match of the regular season, the American University men's tennis team edged Army, 4-3. In a match moved indoors due to weather, the Eagles had to overcome a 1-0 deficit following doubles to win. AU improves to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot League as Army drops to 13-4 and 3-1 in league action. Senior Kyle Bailey (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) won a three-set battle with Army's Rafael Albornoz at No. 3 singles to help AU to victory. After losing the first set in a tiebreak, 6-7, Bailey stormed back to win the second set, 6-1, and third set, 6-3. Junior Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India/Bradenton) topped John Sabia at first singles, 7-6, 6-2. American's other two points came at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Junior Juan Jaysingh (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, over Jarrett Skrobarcek while junior Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) was victorious in Sebastian Salas at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 7-6. In doubles, junior Ruben Rivero (Sevilla, Spain/Suffolk County Community College) teamed with Jaysingh to defeat Skrobarcek and Steven Srivastava at the third spot, 9-7, as Army won No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the point. Next weekend, the Eagles will participate in the Patriot League Tournament at a site to be determined. AMERICAN 4,
