RICHMOND, Va. --
American University defeated former Colonial Athletic Association
(CAA) rival Richmond, 6-1, on Friday to hand the Spiders a loss in their
home opener at The Eagles (5-1, 1-0
PL) captured the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to
claim the win, their fifth of the season. The Spiders' (5-6, 2-0 A-10) lone victory came at #3 singles as junior Danny Scrafford notched a three-set (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) win over AU sophomore Juan Jaysingh (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep). Senior Bence Hamori (Budapest, Hungary/Budapest U. of Physical Ed.) and sophomore Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India/Bradenton Academy [Fla.]) were double winners, notching victories in both singles and doubles action. The Eagles prepare for their home opener against Patriot League opponent Army on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Reeves Courts. American is 1-0 in league action, beating Colgate 6-1 in its league opener.
