60 American Mens Tennis Sweeps George Mason March 27, 2002
WASHINGTON American swept all matches en route to a 7-0 win over George Mason today at Reeves Courts. In the match, the doubles team of Tushar Garg (Mumbai, India/Bradenton Academy [Fla.]) and Andres Kulcsar (Nuremberg, Germany/Neues Gym. Nuremberg) moved to a perfect 7-0 in the spring season with an 8-5 victory over Tim Bainton and David Cornelius. Garg also earned a win at No. 4 singles over Federico Mendez to help the Eagles improve to 8-1 on the season (2-0 Patriot League). Josh Procacci (Naples, Fla./Community School of Naples) moved to 8-1 in the spring with his 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles over Chris Rivera. Procacci teamed with Bence Hamori (Budapest, Hungary/Budapest U. of Physical Ed.) for a victory at No. 1 doubles. Hamori also won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. The doubles team of Jonah Fliegelman (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Guillame Tarralle (Paris, France/French International School [Md.] ) notched a win for the Eagles at No. 2 doubles. Also victorious for American were sophomore Juan Jaysingh (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) and senior Kyle Bailey (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) at No. 3 and No. 5 singles. American has reached its highest ranking ever in mens tennis. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) currently has the Eagles as No. 60 in the nation. American also rescheduled two postponed matches. The Eagles will take on Maryland-Baltimore County on April 18 at 10:00 a.m. and Army on April 19 at 2:00 p.m. Both matches are on the road for American. Americans next match is tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. against East Carolina at Reeves Courts.
