Men’s Tennis Edges Army, 4-3
Eagles to face Navy for regular season title

WEST POINT, N.Y. — American men’s tennis team moved one step closer to a regular season Patriot League title today as they defeated Army, 4-3, at West Point. The Eagles moved to 5-0 in Patriot League play and 16-1 on the season. Army falls to 2-3 in league play and 17-7 on the year. American has now won 13 straight matches.

For the second day in a row, American was tested by their opponent. The Eagles won the doubles point behind 8-6 victories by the No. 2 doubles team of Bence Hamori and Josh Procacci and the No. 3 doubles team of Tushar Garg and Andreas Kulcsar. Garg and Kulcsar move to a perfect 13-0 as a team on the season.

The Eagles were pushed to the limit in the singles matches as Army won the Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles in two sets. Senior Kyle Bailey won his singles match in straight sets, taking No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1. For American to win, Tushar Garg and Guillaume Tarralle had to come up big in their matches, both of which went three sets. After dropping the first set 6-7, Garg fought back and rolled through the next two sets 6-1, 6-1 for the victory. Tarralle had a tougher road, dropping the first set 6-7, but winning the second set 6-4. The decisive set was won 7-6 by Tarralle in a tiebreak.

American concludes the regular season with a Patriot League showdown against Navy Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Reeves Courts. The winner will host the Patriot League Championship next weekend. Monday will also be Senior Day where Bence Hamori and Josh Procacci will be honored before the match.
