Earns PL Regular Season Title with 6-1 Win Over Navy April 22, 2002
WASHINGTON American mens tennis team won the Patriot League regular season title today, defeating Navy, 6-1. The Eagles have won 14 matches in a row as they moved to a perfect 6-0 in league play and 17-1 overall. Navy falls to 14-9 overall and 4-2 in Patriot League action. The Eagles won five of the six singles matches against the Midshipmen. Senior Josh Procacci fought back from being down 5-4 in the first set to win 7-5, 6-2 over Ryan Osgood. At third singles, Tushar Garg defeated Davy Lee, 6-4, 6-4. Juan Jaysingh got by Chris McGrath at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Playing at fifth singles, Guillaume Tarralle won a tie-breaker 10-8 to win the first set before winning the second set 6-2. The win was Tarralles 14th straight. Finally, Kyle Bailey was a straight set winner over Phil Voulgaris at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Navys Cam Lickle topped Bence Hamori at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2. American won the doubles point thanks to 8-6 victories by the No. 2 doubles team of seniors Hamori and Procacci and the No. 3 doubles team of Garg and Andreas Kulcsar. Garg and Kulcsar remained undefeated in spring play. Seniors Bence Hamori

home match at Reeves Courts. American has earned the right to host the
Patriot League Tournament this weekend, April 27-28. The Eagles will be
the top seed in the tournament and will be playing for their first-ever
bid to the NCA A Tournament. Americans semifinal match will be Saturday
at 11:00 a.m. Singles Doubles
