Tennis Remains Undefeated in Patriot League April 6, 2002
EASTON, Pa. American's men's tennis team won its tenth straight match today, defeating Patriot League foe Lafayette, 6-1. The Eagles moved to 13-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Patriot League. American, ranked No. 65 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), has now won ten straight matches on the season. The Eagles claimed two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point against Lafayette. Kyle Bailey and Guillaume Taralle won 8-4 at second doubles and Andreas Kulcsar and Jonah Fliegelman won by the same score at No. 3 doubles. Matt Coin and HCone Thompson were able to get past Americans Bence Hamori and Josh Procacci at No. 1 doubles, 9-8 (2). Hamori won his ninth straight match at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0 over Coin. Juan Jaysingh won his fourth in a row, topping Ryan Collins 6-1, 7-6 (8). The Eagles rolled at No. 4 through No. 6 singles. Bailey cruised to victory at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Taralle also won easily, 6-0, 6-3 at fifth singles. Kulcsar played singles for only the third time this spring and moved to 3-0, defeating Mike Levey at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, American was handed its only defeat as Procacci fell to Thompson 4-6, 7-6 (5), (6). The Eagles return to Patriot League action Sunday as they face the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh at 10:00 a.m. A win will clinch a spot in the Patriot League Championships for American. Singles Doubles
