American Men Make Short Course History at Swimming World Cup
Bassett takes seventh in 200 Breaststroke; Liscinsky finishes eighth in 100 Individual Medley

LONG ISLAND, N.Y.-- Sophomore Ethan Bassett (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and junior Mark Liscinsky (Olney, Md./Sherwood) represented American University this past week at the World Cup amateur swimming event held in Long Island, New York. Bassett garnered a short course meter record in the 400 Individual Medley while Liscinsky notched five short course records in the 100 Individual Medley, 50 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 100 Backstroke, and 200 Individual Medley.

Liscinky competed in the finals for the 100 Individual Medley while Bassett also competed in the finals for the 200 Breastroke. These two final events will be aired on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 21, at 3:00 p.m.

The American swimming and diving teams have a break until Jan. 19, when some team members travel to Spain for the VI Tourneo Ciudad. The men and women return to action on Jan. 26 when they host Army at 12:00 p.m. in the Reeves Aquatic Center.
