American
Women No. 10, Men No. 15 in CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major Poll
Previously unranked squads move into Top 20

WASHINGTON
-- In its first poll
of the 2001-02 swimming and diving season, collegeswimming.com
has ranked the American men's and women's teams among the Top 20 in the
midmajor division. The women sit at No. 10 with 228.82 points while the
men are at No. 15 with 216.96 points.
Other Patriot League teams in the midmajor poll include powerhouse Navy,
whose women sit at No. 4 while the men are in the No. 1 spot with 252.68
overall points. Colgate's men and women's teams are also ranked, with
the women at No. 18 (formerly No. 9) and the men at No. 12 (same previous
ranking). The Bucknell women are at No. 20, moving down from the No. 10
spot, and the men are at No. 18 (formerly No. 11). Finally, the Lehigh
women have moved onto the poll at No. 21 and the men enter at No. 17.
The American swimming and diving teams are preparing
for their annual holiday training trip. The Eagles will depart for Florida
on Tuesday, Jan. 1, and will return on Saturday, Jan. 12 before classes
begin on Jan.14.
Following the training trip, the Eagles will return to Washington for
five days before leaving again on Thursday, Jan. 17 for the VI Torneo
Ciudad, held in San Sebastian, Spain. The
men and women will return to dual meet action on Jan. 26 when they host
Patriot League foe Army at 12:00 p.m. in the Reeves Aquatic Center.
