INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- American University junior Dominick Szabo (North Wales, Penn./North Penn) took ninth in the 100-meter breaststroke this morning in a time of 1:03.27 to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Trials at this week's ConocoPhillips Spring National Championships.
Szabo, who earned All-America status just one week ago in the 100-yard breaststroke in 53.94, swam faster than the Olympic Trials time of 1:04.29. Moses Glenn of local Curl-Burke held the No. 1 spot in a time of 1:01.05.
Szabo's AU teammate, junior Ethan Bassett (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill), took 30th in the 400-meter individual medley preliminaries (4:40.25). Bassett came in 58th in the 100-meter breaststroke preliminaries in 1:07.11.
