Nov. 17, 2003 WASHINGTON- For the second time this season, Dominick Szabo (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) has been named Patriot League Swimmer of the Week for the week of Nov. 17. Over the weekend, Szabo led the Eagles to its first Patriot League win over Bucknell with three first-place finishes, a third-place finish and a pool record. Szabo started the meet against Navy and Bucknell with a strong breaststroke leg of the winning 200-meter medley relay. As the meet continued, he was able to finish first in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.04, breaking the eight-year old pool record that was previously held at 1:03.87 by Ian Johnston of Navy. He also won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.09, almost eight seconds faster than his closest competitor. So far this season, Szabo has broken at least one record in each pool the team has visited. As the Eagles visited Georgetown University for the Potomac Relays on Oct. 17, he broke his own pool record in the 100 breast with a time of 55:89, three seconds faster than his previous time. Szabo again broke the pool record in the 200 breaststroke at UMBC with a time of 2:02.46. As the Eagles returned home to face Army, Szabo broke his own pool record in the 100 breast as well as the nine year old record with a time of 2:03.74 in the 200 breast, which was formerly held by Robby Griffin at 2:03.87.
