Men's Track Competes at Navy Invitational

O'Brien Captures 1,500-meters in 3:56.46

ANNAPOLIS, MD - Sean O'Brien captured the 1,500-meters to help lead the American men's track team at the Navy Invitational here on Saturay afternoon. American placed fourth with 35 points, while the host Midshipmen captured the team title with 173 points.

O'Brien crossed the finish line in a time of 3:56.46, outdistancing Erik Schmidt of Navy by almost three seconds.

Andy Ellerhorst placed second in the 200-meters in 22.26, while Ed Toploewski placed third in the 400-meters in 48.87.

Frank Malpigli and Matthew Cooke finished second and third, respectively, in the 5,000-meters. Malpigli crossed the line in 14:50.72, while Cooke posted a time of 14:52.04.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, April 7, when they take part in the Maryland Invitational, hosted by the University of Maryland.
