Wins Four Events at Lehigh Quad January 18, 2003 | Stats
BETHLEHEM, Pa. In the first scoring meet of the season, the American University men's track and field team won four events on the way to a third-place finish at the Lehigh Quad. The highlight of the meet for AU was a dominating performance in the 5000-meters, as well as individual titles in the 400m, mile and 3000m. Matt Seymour won the 5000m for AU leading seven Eagles placing in the top-eight. Seymour ran 14-minutes, 46.2 seconds to win followed closely by Pat MacAdie in 14:49.2. Seymour is now third all-time while MacAdie is fourth at AU. Matt Cooke placed third in 14:56.6 and Danny Maurer was fifth in 14:56.9 as the duo are now fifth and sixth all-time at AU, respectively. Coming in sixth place was Matt Barresi who is now ninth all-time in 15:42.9 while Chris Repka was seventh in 15:45.1 and is now 10th all-time. Chad Young, who owns the eighth-fastest time at AU, finished eighth in the race in 15:53.7. In the 400m, Andy Ellerhorst ran a personal-best time of 51.13 to win the meet and remain second all-time at AU. Gabriel Ajayi was close behind in 51.31 to place second and move to third all-time. Ajayi finished second in the 200m, running 23.07 to move to fourth all-time. Ellerhorst was third in 23.08. Carlos Hunt won the mile, running 4:21.2 while Pat Burford finished second in 4:28.5. Phil Gaeta captured the 3000m in 8:43.0, winning the race by 21 seconds. Will Knox came in third in 9:07.2. Michael Edwards finished third in the 800m, running 2:03.9. Ed Topolewski also scored for the Eagles, coming in fifth in the 500m in 1:08.58. John Campbell finished eighth in the 60m running 7.37. In the 200m, Campbell was sixth (23.63) while Topolewski was eighth (23.98). American's next meet is Sat. Jan. 25 at the Maryland Invitational held in Landover, Md. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
