AU Men's Distance Medley Relay To Compete at NCAA Championships
Eagles enter NCAAs with 10th fastest time

Andy Ellerhorst will run the 400m leg of the distance medley relay at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

WASHINGTON — The American University men's distance medley relay (DMR) was accepted to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark on the campus of the University of Arkansas. The Eagle foursome will compete at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track on Friday, March 14.

The squad of seniors Andy Ellerhorst and Sean O'Brien, sophomore Sean Duffy and freshman Phil Gaeta have already set the AU school record in the event twice this season. Eastern Michigan owns the fastest time in the country with a time of 9:33.48. American's seed time is 9:36.72.

Duffy will run the leadoff leg of 1200-meters for AU. He will hand off to Ellerhorst for the second leg of 400m. Gaeta runs the third leg of 800m before handing the baton off to O'Brien for the anchor leg of 1600m. O'Brien is the only Eagle on the squad with NCAA experience having earned All-America honors the last two years at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1500m.

The Eagles will run in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday night at 9 p.m.
