Outdoor Track Teams Compete at Terrapin Invitational
Duffy captures 800m race

Sean Duffy captured the 800m race Saturday at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The American University men's outdoor track team finished 10th of 19 teams and the women's team finished 12th of 19 teams Saturday at the Terrapin Invitational hosted by the University of Maryland.

Sean Duffy (Holmes, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) captured the Eagles lone victory on the day, with a title in the 800m. The junior finished the course in 1:54.14, just 9/100 of a second quicker than teammate Phil Gaeta (Herndon, Va./Oakton). Conor Lanz (Valley Stream, N.Y/Valley Stream Central) also finished with points for the Eagles in the 800m with a sixth-place finish in 1:56.32.

Freshman Kelley Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) was the top finisher for the women, with a third-place showing in the 1500m run. Taylor finished less than three seconds behind the race's winner, Danielle Siebert of the University of Maryland, with a time of 4:40.07.

Meanwhile, Whitney McNees (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) and Pat MacAdie (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxboro Regional) picked up a pair of fourth place finishes. McNees finished the 5000m in 17:59.86, while MacAdie completed the 1500m course in a time of 3:55.74.

The outdoor track teams return to action Friday through Saturday, April 9-10, at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University.
